I had a 1989 200 and it idled well for an old carb motor. Johnson gt 200 sounds like the fuel side of the vro is bad. As said above you can get kits to repair. I have rebuilt this engine and had it running great, then trouble. I have the option of purchasing either a rebuilt 1998 johnson 200 hp or a rebuilt 1989 johnson gt 200 hp for the same price.
