Im contemplating between upgrading either this or the astel sword. In this video, i review the bastard's stars flail weapon and the ashes of war skill called waves of darkness. are they good? Waves of darkness is a skill that plunges armament into the ground to release three waves of darkness.

Waves of darkness does more damage than most.
Look for a video that shows it’s aow and moveset, if you think it’s cool then buy it but waves of darkness is the better choice and has a follow up attack I personally recommend you use both so you can swap. Bastard stars does more damage, but less consistently and wing of astel is a bit more reliable at the loss of a small amount of damage. Both has nebula but the flail's version is unique.

Is the bastard's stars worth investing in? I find it underwhelming compared to wing of astora. I'd say both for different situations. Waves of darkness is an ash of war and upgrade material in elden ring.
Both are cool weapons but personally i found that wing has a way better moveset for both pvp and pve. Not the best for pvp but makes up for it in pve. I'm surprised the nebula ash of war wasn't considerably stronger on bastard's stars. The power differences between the astels may have nothing to do with the nox and may just depend on each astel.
