You can't use dual form to get an advanced weapon. Inventor is a great fit for intelligent characters looking to branch out and learn new tricks, especially alchemists, who are already good at crafting and may appreciate unstable options. Inventors are dear to me and the weapon innovations have gotten a wide variety of little buffs, making them far more flexible than they were before.

I'm playing a weapon innovation inventor right now in one of my campaigns, only level 3 so far but i know what i'm building up to twenty and i've been having a blast, lmk if you have any. Like the alchemist it initially looks a bit inferior as it doesn’t get to use its main attribute. Inventor weapons must begin with the same characteristics as [lvl 0/1 simple/martial] weapons. I strongly recommend your player try a ranged/weapon inventor or a construct inventor.
