This is a carbine type m1a so i'm not looking for some sort of a high magnification. The springfield armory m1a socom 16 cqb, paired with excellent optics like the leupold or aimpoint, some quality ammo and a durable drag bag, makes for a combination that’s hard to. Choice of optic really depends on your primary use for the socom.

Just picked up a socom 16 and trying to decide on a scope.
Do you want a traditional magnified optic mounted on a traditional over the receiver scope mount, a long eye relief scout scope, or a red dot/holographic sight? Can anybody recommend a long eye relief scope which would suite me for this rifle? I've got 50+ year old eyes, i'd like a magnified optic for my springfield armory m1a socom16. Here is what i just did with my new socom 16.
Not sure if i want to do a forward mounted scout scope or a more traditional set up. Usgi stock, took off the scout rail and replaced the handguard.
